Happy New Year readers! It is that time again, time for classes to resume! I've been a little more busier due to the schedule that I have this semester. I'm not sure if you remember (from an earlier post) that I was unable to get enrolled in the Organic Chemistry I class I needed in the Fall, well this spring semester I was able to land a seat in the class. :) So this semester I'm taking O-Chem, Genetics, Macroeconomics, and an Anthropology course. I'll be writing an upcoming post concerning the progress about how studying and preparing for these more challenging courses are coming along for me.
Well let's jump right into this post...
This year I am determined to experience elevation in my life, the nature of the human being is to desire more. Every one wants to experience life at a greater capacity than that which they are currently experiencing. We desire to have "more" or be "better than" the person next to us so much so that if we aren't careful we will become jealous, envious, and even grow increasingly bitter. We exhibit this behavior towards our peers and other people that we come into contact with because we wish to have the things that they have or we wish to experience the same blessings they have received or are receiving. We begin thinking condescending thoughts about people and even take insulting jabs at others because secretly we yearn to possess that thing or things that our neighbor has, this is what Exodus 20:17 teaches us not to do. However, in our minds if we put a person down by comparing ourselves to them and believing in our hearts that we are better than another, then we fuel our egos and trick ourselves into believing that this is the way to becoming successful at reaching our desires. I say that we trick ourselves because instead of producing the fruit of our labor, we actually grow exhausted in our endeavors and end up "spinning our wheels" which causes us to never really getting ahead or if we do get ahead we arrive at a destination void of true fulfillment and satisfaction.
At some point or another we all as human beings exhibit or experience a level of superiority in comparison to someone else or another group. The purpose of this post is to challenge myself and all of you who come into contact with this blog to not compete with anyone or anything but instead compete with and challenge yourself. If you strive everyday to do better or work harder than you did the day before imagine the major leaps and gains you will attain towards self-improvement and reaching your goals. When you're in competition with only yourself, others become attracted to you because of the pure drive and determination you will begin to exhibit. You'll find people asking you questions like, "How did you do that?" or "How can I become as driven as you are?" These reactions to your character will come as a by-product to the faithfulness you have cultivated as a positive investment in yourself. Still not sure where to begin? Take a small step towards the success you desire and then during every consecutive day following the first steps make a bold effort to do a little bit better and a little bit more.
