Hey ya'll! It is definitely that time again. School is already back in session for some and for the rest of us Monday marks the start of a new fall semester. If your schedule looks anything like mine, you have your work cut out for you and I am writing this blog post in order to share with you some of the essential items and routines I partake in around this time to set myself up for a smooth start and ultimately success overall in school.
1. Energy Booster:
I recently tried this line of fruit juice smoothies and I really enjoyed the way they taste and the consistency of the drink overall. It isn't too thick and if you are a berry lover this flavor contains blueberries and blackberries, but the fruit doesn't stop there it also includes banana, green apple, and lemon. I have a hard time getting myself to eat breakfast most mornings which I have found to be a bad habit that I've picked up over the years and I pay for it when I start to feel a little sluggish in the morning. My son eats breakfast at daycare and I'm usually just grabbing something to eat for lunch totally disregarding breakfast because I'm not hungry or I'm trying to make sure I get where I need to be on time. I need a kick start so I am going to test this juice out as an on the go substitute. Along with this juice I have been working out at 5:30am three days out of the week and I actually feel much more alert and refreshed in the afternoons. I'm really interested to see whether or not i notice an increase in my energy throughout the day while I'm on campus by drinking this early in my morning along with getting the appropriate amount of sleep the night before.

2. Price Matching at the Book Store:
Books are super expensive and it seems as though the upper level course books become more and more expensive! Science majors, I'm sure you can agree science books are usually really heavy in weight and pretty pricey for your pockets. However, there are some book stores that offer PRICE MATCHING to save the day. If you live an area where there is a Bill's bookstore, you can search for your book online, present the ONLINE RENT or BUY PRICE to the cashier and Bill's will match the online price and BEAT it by 10%! You really can't go wrong with that because you don't have to wait for the books to arrive in the mail and you get a better price in person. You may not live near a Bill's Bookstore but you should definitely inquire about price matching at your local bookstore. If your bookstore does not offer price matching and you aren't aware of the savings you can find online I definitely recommend checking into websites such as Chegg.com or even Amazon if you have a couple of days to spare and can afford to wait for the book to arrive in the mail.

3. Spiritual Food:
This part is the most important of my favorite things list. School can get overwhelming and you can get burned out quick! You eat food to nourish your body and you also should feast on the Word of God to nourish your spirit. I've selected a few scriptures below that I read to keep me reminded about Who pushes me through school and sustains my spiritual stamina to keep achieving ALL that He has already set out for me to accomplish.
Deuteronomy 28:14 NLT -"The LORD will make you the head and not the tail, and you only will be above, and you will not be underneath, if you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I charge you today, to observe them carefully,"
Psalm 1:1-3 NLT -"How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season, And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers."
Proverbs 16:1-3 AMP -"The plans of the mind and orderly thinking belong to man, but from the Lord comes the [wise] answer of the tongue. 2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits (the thoughts and intents of the heart). 3 Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed."
Psalm 37:34 AMP -"Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart."
James 4:10 AMP -"Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant]."
1 Corinthians 2:9 - "But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [[a]who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed]."
4. Daily Planner/Organizer
-This is one is self explanatory. I absolutely love my planner, I fill up the pages with all of my To-Do's for school and home. If your professor is verbally giving you instructions about an assignment, due dates, or special instructions you can use your planner as a Go-To journal that keeps all of your random thoughts, organized ideas, and quickly approaching deadlines. Use your planner! It will help you stay on track and keep your already busy life somewhat organized.

5. Ninja Turtle Underwear :)
-If you are following my blog on Instagram then you are already aware of how excited my son is about wearing big boy underwear and NOT pull-ups anymore (except at night). I've heard in the past that boys take a little longer to learn than girls but honestly I believe it just depends on the child. I actually found it much easier to teach him how to potty train by reminding him to use the bathroom every hour (even if he didn't have to go) and let him walk around naked while we are at home. Now I don't have to remind him as frequently and it was definitely a pleasant surprise to hear him using the potty when he needed to without being told. :)
